Eric and Roy Schook didn’t get a chance to pre-fish Roosevelt Lake prior to last weekends Weekend Warrior Bass Series Arizona Region Championship presented by Anderson Toyota. The father and son didn’t let that stop them from doing what needed to be done though. Relying on past experience and an open mind they took off as the ever so lucky boat 13. With the first day staying overcast most of the morning Eric and Roy were able to put together an opening limit weighing 13.25lbs which was anchored by the days big fish. A 4.17lb largemouth caught by Roy. Sunday saw completely different conditions as the sun was out and there was little to no wind. Eric and Roy were able to back up their day 1 limit by coming in with a limit weighing 11.72lbs to give them a total weight of 24.97lbs taking home $4,800 in prize money.
Finishing in 2nd place was the team of Mike Reynolds and Creston Carroll. Mike and Creston started day 2 in second place after weighing 13.02lbs in the opening round. Their day two limit weighed 11.14lbs bringing their two day total to 24.16lbs which was good enough for $2000.
Rounding out the top 3 was Dave Nichols and Dean Kreuzer. This seasons anglers of the year brought in back to back limits weighing a total of 23.27lbs earning them $2000 in place and option money.
Big fish of the tournament went to the team of Mike Elliot and Keith Hunsinger. Mike and Keith brought in a 5.22lb largemouth earning them $420.
The Weekend Warrior Bass Series would not be possible without all of our sponsors and most of all you the anglers. Because of you the anglers we continue to be Arizona’s largest Amateur only team circuit. Anderson Toyota has been a WWBS sponsor from day one and continues to do so. Jason Anderson and Jared Lohrman do more for the fishing community than any other dealership out there. Be sure to give them a shot if you are in the market for a new or used vehicle. SPRO once again provided SPRO tackle packs to the smallest 5 fish limit at our qualifiers. A&M Graphics continues to do an outstanding job on vehicle and boat wraps for not just tournament circuits but also anglers and businesses. Randy and Darlene Ernst with Pro-Tech Mats for sponsoring first out of the money for the Havasu region.
I would also like to thank all of the Families Raising Hope sponsors from last season. Fallon Marine, Temecula Valley Pipe and Supply, Crossed Industries, Mystique Hardwood Floors, and Judy Tassie with Selman and Associates in Lake Havasu.
For anglers wishing to participate in WWBS events the seasons starts soon. The Lake Havasu Region kicks off this Saturday September 16, 2017 launching out of Windsor and the Arizona Region kicks off September 30, 2017 at Apache Lake launching out of Burnt Coral. Teams wishing to make the championship must fish 4 events in a single region to make that regions championship or 3 events in each region to make both regions championships. Total entry is just $240 per team and pays back 1 place for every 4 entries.
